Job Description

Our client is looking for a Network Engineer (Mobile Packet Core) to join their core network team. This role focuses on maintaining and improving the mobile data infrastructure that underpins 2G, 4G and 5G networks. You will work closely with internal teams and vendors to maintain core network systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and support the rollout of new services and technologies. This role can be based in the Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey. Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain the mobile packet core network supporting data services across 2G, 4G and 5G. Monitor network performance and investigate faults affecting mobile data connectivity. Carry out configuration changes, system upgrades and maintenance of core network platforms. Support roaming connectivity and interconnect partners. Assist with network expansion, capacity planning and infrastructure improvements. Support the introduction of new services, platforms and technologies. Work with vendors and internal teams to resolve complex technical issues. Participate in preventative maintenance and architecture reviews. Assist with security monitoring and incident response within the mobile core environment. Participate in an on call rota supporting the operational network. Key Skills & ExperienceExperience working with mobile core network technologies. Knowledge of packet core components such as MME, SGW, PGW, PCRF or similar platforms. Understanding of telecom signalling protocols including Diameter, SIP or Ss7. Good knowledge of IP networking concepts. Experience supporting telecom infrastructure within a service provider environment would be advantageous. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Willingness to learn new technologies and work in an evolving technical environment.
