Job Description
Automation Risk
This role involves a mix of routine (documentation, onboarding), augmented (planning, compliance, reporting), and human-centric (stakeholder liaison, welfare support) tasks. While many administrative and reporting functions are exposed to automation and AI augmentation, the need for real-time judgment, regulatory interpretation, and crew welfare support keeps overall automation risk moderate. The role is highly exposed to AI tools for data, reporting, and compliance tracking, but core relationship and decision-making elements resist full automation.
Task analysis
- Plan and coordinate crew assignments for tanker vessels, ensuring all positions are filled with qualified and certified seafarers.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with MLC 2006, STCW, ISM Code, and flag state requirements for all crew members.
- Maintain and update crew documentation, including contracts, certifications, and performance records.
- Liaise with vessel Masters, manning offices, and technical managers to resolve crew-related issues and support vessel operations.
- Track and report on crew performance using GPA/KPI frameworks and provide recommendations for officer development.
- Support crew welfare initiatives and address crew concerns to promote retention and well-being.
- Prepare and deliver regular reports on crewing status, compliance, and operational risks to internal stakeholders.
- Onboard new crew members and ensure all pre-joining requirements are met.
