The chef role involves a mix of routine tasks (inventory, cleaning) that are increasingly automatable, and augmented tasks (preparation, workflow management) where technology assists but does not replace the chef. Core responsibilities such as creative menu development, quality assessment, and team leadership remain resistant to automation, keeping overall automation risk moderate and AI exposure significant but not dominant.
