Job Description
Automation Risk
A large portion of the Accounts Assistant's tasks are routine and rule-based, such as data entry, reconciliation, and document management, making them highly susceptible to automation by accounting software and RPA tools. However, some tasks require human oversight, communication, and judgment, which are less easily automated but can be augmented by AI. Overall, the role is at high risk of automation, with significant exposure to AI augmentation.
Task analysis
- Record and classify financial transactions using accounting software.
- Check figures, postings, and documents for accuracy and correct codes.
- Reconcile accounts and report discrepancies found in records.
- Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers.
- Perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
- Comply with company, local, and national regulations and procedures.
- Access and retrieve financial information to answer queries from colleagues or management.
- Communicate with supervisors, peers, or clients regarding account issues.
- Organize, plan, and prioritize daily accounting tasks.
