Automation Risk

Automation probabilityi28%
AI exposure (AIOE)i54%

While some routine documentation and medication administration tasks are increasingly supported or partially automated by EHRs and AI tools, the core of the Registered Nurse role involves direct patient care, supervision, and complex judgment that resist full automation. AI can augment assessments and documentation, but the need for empathy, leadership, and real-time decision-making keeps overall automation risk low to moderate.

Task analysis

  • Assess residents’ health status and needs on a regular basis, including physical and mental health evaluations.
  • Administer medications to residents and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
  • Develop, write, and maintain individualized care plans for each resident.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to care staff during shifts, including delegating tasks and mentoring.
  • Liaise with allied health professionals and families to coordinate care and communicate updates.
  • Ensure compliance with care home policies, equal opportunities, privacy, and confidentiality standards.
  • Document and update residents’ medical records and reports.
