Automation Risk

This role has a high proportion of routine and augmented tasks, such as route navigation, record-keeping, and vehicle checks, which are increasingly supported or replaced by technology. However, physical delivery, real-world judgment, and customer interaction still require a human presence, moderating full automation risk. AI tools can augment many aspects, but direct human involvement remains essential for service quality and problem-solving.

Task analysis

  • Drive van along assigned delivery route in Onchan & Douglas to deliver milk and products.
  • Load and unload milk and dairy products from the van at each stop.
  • Verify delivery addresses and ensure correct products are delivered to each customer.
  • Collect payments or confirm delivery with customers as required.
  • Inspect and maintain the vehicle before and after each shift (fuel, tires, lights, etc.).
  • Communicate with the dairy or dispatch regarding route issues or delays.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records and logs for each shift.
  • Provide friendly and reliable service to customers during deliveries.
  • Work independently and make quick decisions when unexpected issues arise (e.g., traffic, address errors).
