Many tasks in this role, such as preventative maintenance scheduling, inventory management, and route planning, are routine and increasingly automatable with field service and AI tools. However, hands-on repairs, physical installations, and customer-facing activities require human presence and judgment, limiting full automation. AI tools will significantly augment diagnostics, training, and communication, resulting in a medium automation risk but high exposure to AI augmentation.
