Job Description

Are you a skilled Vehicle Technician looking to take the next step in your career? We are Nissan's authorised service & repair workshop on the Isle of Man, and we are looking for a talented, motivated, and customer-focused individual to join our dynamic workshop team in Ballasalla. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the world's leading automotive brands, utilising the latest diagnostic equipment and manufacturer training. Whether you are working on routine servicing or complex diagnostics and repairs, you will play a vital role in keeping our customers safely on the road. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Nissan vehicles to the highest manufacturer standards. A core part of the position involves performing diagnostic work using Nissan's specialist CONSULT diagnostic equipment, completing warranty repairs, and supporting technical service campaigns. You will conduct thorough vehicle health checks and communicate your findings clearly to our service advisors, while proactively identifying any faults or emerging issues during inspection. You will also be expected to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop environment at all times, complete job cards and workshop documentation accurately, and keep your technical knowledge current through Nissan's ongoing manufacturer training programmes and technical bulletins. We are seeking a candidate who holds a recognised automotive qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or 3, City & Guilds, or an equivalent accreditation, along with proven hands-on experience as a Vehicle Technician in either a franchised or independent workshop setting. You should have solid experience working with modern vehicle diagnostic systems, and whilst Nissan or other manufacturer-brand training is desirable, it is by no means essential as full training will be provided. Above all, we are looking for someone who takes pride in the quality of their work, communicates well with colleagues and customers alike, holds a full valid Isle of Man driving licence, and has the drive and initiative to perform equally well working independently or as part of a close-knit team. For more details and to apply contact gm@athol.co.im or 01624820085.

Many core tasks, such as routine servicing, documentation, and diagnostics, are increasingly supported or partially automated by digital tools and AI-driven platforms. However, complex fault-finding, hands-on repairs, and customer communication still require significant human expertise and judgment, keeping full automation risk moderate. GenAI and diagnostic AI tools can augment but not fully replace the technician's role.
