This role contains a high proportion of routine and codifiable tasks, such as test execution and defect logging, which are increasingly automated by modern testing frameworks and RPA tools. However, tasks involving test design, requirements analysis, and stakeholder communication still require human oversight and judgment, though AI tools can augment these activities. Overall, the role is highly exposed to AI augmentation and partial automation, but not full replacement.

Task analysis

  • Review software requirements and technical documentation to design test scenarios.
  • Develop and document test plans, scenarios, and scripts for various projects.
  • Execute manual and automated tests to verify system functionality.
  • Identify, analyze, and document software defects using a bug tracking system.
  • Report test results and provide feedback to developers and project stakeholders.
