Automation Risk
This role contains a mix of routine tasks (record-keeping, load checks) that are increasingly automatable, and augmented tasks (driving, inspections) where technology assists but does not replace the driver. Human judgment is essential for hazardous material handling and on-site decisions, keeping automation risk moderate and AI exposure significant but not dominant.
Task analysis
- Safely operate Class 1 HGV to deliver bitumen and plant/materials across the island.
- Secure all loads in compliance with safety regulations before transit.
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects or issues.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and paperwork for each trip.
- Deliver and collect plant and materials to/from various sites.
- Carry out bitumen deliveries, ensuring adherence to ADR and hazardous material protocols.
- Communicate with dispatch and site personnel regarding delivery status and issues.
- Perform minor vehicle maintenance and cleaning as needed.
