Job Description
Automation Risk
Most core tasks—personal care, companionship, and client support—require physical presence, empathy, and real-time judgment, making them resistant to automation. Some routine elements, like documentation and light cleaning, can be augmented or partially automated with digital tools, but the role remains fundamentally human-centered. GenAI tools can assist with record-keeping and communication, but cannot replace the essential interpersonal and caregiving aspects.
Task analysis
- Assist clients with personal care tasks (e.g., bathing, dressing, toileting) in their homes.
- Administer prescribed medication to clients according to care plans.
- Prepare meals and assist clients with eating as needed.
- Perform light household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying client living spaces.
- Accompany clients to appointments, shopping, and community activities.
- Conduct welfare checks and provide companionship to reduce social isolation.
- Document care provided and report on client wellbeing to management.
- Monitor and report any changes in client health or circumstances to supervisors.
- Follow health and safety protocols, including infection control and manual handling procedures.
